About Me

I am a 25 year old Indian American, who grew up in Queens, NY, but caught a travel bug when I was 18. I've studied and worked abroad as often as opportunities presented themselves. I love traveling, meeting people, learning about different cultures and enjoying life. I work as an engineer at LM Wind Power in Denmark, helping to design new wind turbine blades. I am passionate about green energy and sustainability.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet locals and get a vibe from the area your visiting that you couldn't get if you stayed in a hotel. I hope I can make some friends on my travels, and return the favor of a place to crash.

Interests

I really love food. I am not the best at making it, but eating it is definitely my favorite activity. I love Tex-Mex (never really tried authentic Mexican, but I hope I can make it down to Mexico to try it), North and South Indian, Korean, Ethiopian, Thai, Vietnamese, Danish, and Japanese food.

I also go on the internet and read way too much about NYC history and train travel history. I have always been intrigued by trains (my grandfather was a train conductor in India), but sadly don't get the opportunity to take them too often.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a fan of hip-hop: Nas, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Pharell, 50 Cent, J. Cole, Lupe Fiasco, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Jadakiss, Mos Def, Talib Kweli. Also R&B and occassionally reggaeton.

Movies, there are so many but here's a select few from a variety of genres: Anchorman, The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, V for Vendetta, The Intouchables (French), Oldboy (Korean), Blinking Lights (Danish).

Books, again so many: Slaughter House 5 (or almost any of Kurt Vonnegut's works), Norwegian Wood, Magical Thinking, On the Road, The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Roald Dahl Books, Ender's Game, A Thousand Splendid Suns.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a year teaching English at a girls high school in Korea. The students were the sweetest, smartest and craziest people I ever met, and being their teacher was truly a special privilege.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some phrases in Korean, Tamil or Danish. And teach you random useless trivia about NYC history.

I'd love to learn about whatever you're eating that's unique to your home.

And i'd love to share travel experiences over good food and drinks!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share lots of silly stories about living in Korea, or growing up as a first generation American. And I can share a few laughs (and maybe some beers if there's a store nearby :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Sweden, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Denmark, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Spain
