Hey Fellow Travelers! I’m a retired Air Force officer and current general surgeon living in the vibrant Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, DC.

First of all, welcome to the District… you will almost certainly love it here! If there is something I can do to help you or enhance your visit while you’re in town, just shoot me a quick message. I have lived in the DMV for many years and can offer helpful recommendations. On the weekends I can often host as well, if you need a place to crash for a night or two. The only cost for admission is kindness and respect, interest in getting to know a fellow couch surfer, and treating my home the way you would want your own to be treated.

Oh… I should also mention… I am an occasional foster parent for Rural Dog Rescue. It is possible that a new pooch may have freshly arrived the same weekend you’re visiting. I mention this in case you do not like dogs, are allergic, etc. Also these animals have often been just recently rescued from some pretty bad situations, so they can require extra TLC, patience, and calmness as they decompress.

Many weekends I am also not fostering an animal. But I just wanted to make you aware.
