About Me

I am 56 years old and spend a lot of time in nature. I have been a performer most of my life, doing political comedy and singing/playing instruments in a variety of musical genres, from Motown to Swing. I am also a writer/publisher and have published 50 books to date. I am also a seamstress and like to create something utilitarian out of throw away materials. I like DIY and zine culture. One of my biggest passions is urban exploration and historical/archival research of sites in Southern CA/Central Coast CA. I am 420-friendly, but I don't smoke tobacco or drink alcohol (I don't care if others do, but to me, alcohol tastes like "grape juice that burns" as Sheldon calls it on Big Bang Theory...so I just never drank it). I have no pets. I am traveling around the Western States and Baja this summer and fall (2017), writing about the landscapes and scenery, doing historical research on sites, and preparing resources for some travel books I am writing. I am looking for alternative, affordable ways for people to travel. I enjoyed hostels, so thought I would try couchsurfing.com too...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I enjoyed staying in hostels during my travels and this is kind of like that. I am doing research on ways people can travel inexpensively so am also trying this out as research, for my book, about traveling with few funds. (I will not use your names, etc.! LOL!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I birthed my child via a home birth with no drugs (and 2 midwives)! Pretty amazing stuff!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love skill sharing. I can teach people how to play guitar, how to sew cool things, how to publish their own books on Amazon, how to cook healthy foods, how to apply to colleges and get financial aid, how to find and apply for grants, how to make herbal cosmetics, how to do historical research using online and in person archives, and I can often find cool historical sites near anyone's town if given a little bit of time to research it. I want to start giving historical tours in the Southern CA/Central Coast area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can do skill shares, with any of the things listed in the "teach, learn, share" box. I usually have nice organic herb to share. I can cook a delicious vegetarian meal for my hosts...I am not interested in any sexual or romantic encounters here, just so that is clear. I just want to meet cool people and share skills...
