About Me

Military child with dual-citizenship in US and UK. Spent the most time as a child in London, though Tucson is the place I have since lived the longest. Married, and our only kids are goats . . . and other animals. Librarian-without-the-degree by day, pub quiz host by night.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We had exchange students while in London, and they were positive experiences. I, also, was an exchange student a few times. Couches make great beds.

Interests

My husband and I have a wee farm on our property in Tucson, complete with chickens, quail, ducks, a goose, rabbits, and goats. For pets, we have cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and rats. To say we love animals would be an understatement.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have just one favorite of anything. Much depends on my mood. For music, I'd say the genres I go back to most are classical, folk, and progressive rock. In movies, I prefer dramas and fantasy/sci-fi. For books, my current favorite author is Christopher Moore, but I also love George R. R. Martin, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Octavia E. Butler.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I actually completed a major project: a master's thesis! I have a tough time completing anything. I have so many ideas, it can be hard to focus. It took me a long time to finish the thesis (on 16th-century plays written in Scots), but I did it. I think that's pretty amazing for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you how Scots is its own language by telling you about the history of the British Isles, both cultural and linguistic.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a terrible cook, but I have zero problems cleaning up after dinner. I find washing dishes calming and meditative.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, Scotland, South Korea, United States
