About Me

My mission is explore this earth, grow as a person, and create meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships along the way.
I am a young student living in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa.
I love traveling, and try to make the most of each experience that I find myself in.

Although born an introvert, I am fairly outgoing and generally you'll find me with a smile on my face and a calm demeanor. I am also very hardworking, driven and responsible. Life is about achieving that balance and I feel (hope) I am on my way there.
I am always keen to meet new people from all walks of life and cultures; to learn their stories and share with them my own experiences and perspectives.

I have a variety of favourite activities, ranging from sitting by a warm fire with some home cooked food and red wine, to hitting the pubs and having a great night out!

Check out my online profiles for more info... :) or alternatively of course please message me!
Travel blog:

I am actually currently writing my thesis on social media (to be complete by October 31st 2015) and a fair amount includes Couch Surfing, so would love to share my insights on this with you too :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am brand new to this!
I have hosted people before (not through this site however) and might be looking for places for myself to stay in 2016. This isn't simply from a "get a free place to stay" perspective; rather, I'd like to immerse myself in the various cultures I come by and part of that will involve living with locals! Share your story with me as I bring you mine.

I am taking time off from life in 2016 to travel the world whilst I am still young and with relatively little responsibility. I'm starting out alone - am sure I'll meet fellow travelers along the way - and ideally I want to explore Australasia and South East Asia. I am really keen on slow travel; not just doing the highlights in each country, but really being able to submerse myself in a new culture for weeks at a time. I believe that Couchsurfing will really help me to do this.

I'm starting in Thailand until 15th January, after which I'll head to Australia. I'm going to be in Perth for +- a month, then I want to fly to Sydney and stay there a while, and then travel up the coast to Brisbane. I hope to couch surf along the way.

After a few weeks in Brisbane I'd like to go to New Zealand (not sure where - any tips?) for a while, after which I'll be heading to Indonesia and then Vietnam and/or Cambodia.

As you can tell, my plans are still pretty flexible. I will be doing all of this with one backpack. Come and join me on my travels!

Medicine, philosophy, sports, health and nutrition, books, music, social psychology, positive psychology, travelling, photography, diving, blogging, astronomy, aviation, technology.
I love playing the piano and learning the ukulele is my new project.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a sucker for old tunes and the likes of Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix etc etc are generally found playing in my car.
I am quite musical and really enjoy some good jazz/blues in the background.
Having said the above, there is quite a big trance music scene in Cape Town and nothing gets me more pumped for a half marathon than a good dose of psytrance.
Okay I basically like everything that isn't played on the radio.
Life is too short for boring music right?!

Book-wise almost anything. I love reading and beyond during the university holidays, I don't get enough time to curl up with a good read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I've bungee jumped from the highest bungee jump bridge in the world - Bloukrans!
- I have a mild aviation (and general adrenaline) obsession and have been in an L39, most insane 30 mins of my life

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides the obvious (contributing to cooking, cleaning up, etc) I carry 22 years of an enriched life with me. I am not rolling in cash, but have always found a way to create special experiences for myself along the way.
I bring the South African culture, perspective, and work ethic with me! I'd love to tell you about my home country and hopefully persuade you to visit me too one day so I can return the favour! Not that you'll need much persuasion as I am from one of the best places in the world ;) with the best rugby teams too.

I am not looking for a free spot to sleep at, only to move on the next day. With couchsurfing, in general I think the longer I am able to stay at you, the better. I'd love to get to know you as a person and learn more about the life you lead.
