Music, Movies, and Books
This is the kind of question that always makes me forget every book/movie/song I've ever consumed but let's see.
Some of my favorite authors:
- Hanif Abdurraqib
- Chloe Caldwell
- Cormac McCarthy
Some of my favorite books not by those authors:
- Pachinko
- The Alchemist
- Frankenstein
Music:
I can appreciate pretty much any genre of music (except for maybe, like, pop country) and I love going to live shows. My favorite genres are anything in the emo/pop punk range. Some of my favorite bands/musicians/groups are Turnover, Tigers Jaw, Worst Party Ever, girl in red, Bon Iver, Current Joys, Bruce Springsteen, and Joyce Manor.
I'm not a huge movie person, but these are some I can watch over and over and over again:
- Before Sunrise Trilogy
- Lords of Dogtown
- Memento
- Lord of the Rings Trilogy
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Swimming amongst bioluminescent plankton in the Hood Canal in Washington State in the middle of the night
- Hiking the Basque coast to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (Dragonstone on Game of Thrones!)
- Taking a trajínera through the canals in Xochimilco, Mexico
- Hiking Cinque Terre from Monterosso to Vernazza and watching the sun set over the sea from a hillside cactus grove
Teach, Learn, Share
Some fun facts about where I'm from (Idaho, USA):
- Boise, Idaho's capital, has the largest concentrated population of Basque people in the world outside of Spain
- Ernest Hemingway is buried there
- There are only two places in the world where you can find star garnet gemstones: India and Idaho
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good energy, always! I'm very easygoing and love to chat about anything over a bottle of wine or some food.
If you're interested in learning more English or practicing what you already know, I love sharing my knowledge of the language and am more than willing to have a conversation at whatever level you're comfortable with!
