About Me

A country bumpkin born and bred. I grew up on a farm surrounded by eccentric pets and family members including a pair of kune kune pigs who were arrested twice, were trained to roll over and lived to the grand old age of 12. They are the reason that my mum has an ASBO.

I once made national newspapers for living on just cabbage soup so that I could go on holiday to Barcelona.

I once accidentally stayed in a brothel in Albania WITH MY BROTHER.

I once had a job where I was paid to play bridge with old ladies.

I once had a successful business selling daddylonglegses (?) to friends for 50 pence a pop (the suckers didn't realise they only lived for a day)

I once infiltrated a group training session of the Hungarian diving team.

I once spilt a glass of lemonade on Michael Johnson and dropped some pudding on his wife and subsequently lost my job.

I am a student, currently living in Montreal on my year abroad from my studies in London.

I am passionate about film making and dream of making my own feature length documentary film. Next month I am volunteering at RIDM, an international film festival in Montréal.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a compulsive traveller and I am always broke because of this addiction. Last summer my lack of funds and desperate wanderlust led me to cycle 3500 km to Istanbul, and when my maps were stolen I was forced to take the scenic route. Through this experience I met so many friendly people, keen to show us their local gems; even in the ugliest, industrial cities I tasted delicious local cuisine, drank beer with the locals and learnt about cultures I didn know existed. This is the reason I´m a couchsurfer!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have eclectic and uncool taste. I listen to a lot of Django Reinhardt, jazz, blues and swing. I have an unhealthy obsession with the Smiths and do a really really ropey Morrissey impression. I basically only listen that I added to iTunes in my mid-teens, because catching up with the last 7 years of music is too daunting a task, so there is a hell of a lot of Vampire Weekend in my life.

I read a lot of short stories; I have a short attention span and think there's nothing lovelier than a perfectly formed 10 page story. My favourites are by Capote, Salinger and Scott-Fitzgerald. Antoine de Saint-Exupery is my favourite novellist, from Le Petit Prince right through to Lettre a un Otage. I think his is the only ever wikipedia page that's made me cry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can play 3 chords on the guitar and I can draw, paint and take photos (I'm actually pretty good).
