About Me

Hi! I am a university student from Hong Kong. I am into meeting new friends and hearing their stories (of course also sharing mine).

When I travel, I always figure out interesting ways to explore the city and talk to the people there. In Paris I joined the café philosophy there and met people from Tunisia, Ukraine etc. I used the only few French words I knew to start a conversation with someone sitting next to me in a cinema. Over the past two years I’ve been traveling to more part of the Global south, I could share more if you’re interested:)

Through CS I met lots of interesting people and hear so many stories. I’m not an anthropologist, but I think what best describes my way of traveling is doing ‘ethnographic exercise’.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am in general very interested in talking to people. I feel like in our daily life we are quite confined to meeting people in our daily routine and setting, for example, as a uni student, most of my friends are uni students too. I want to break out of this. So sometimes I would start conversations with strangers on the street and meet some new friends. Couchsurfing is a really good way to meet people from diverse walks of life.

Interests

I’m a huge film fan! Also into philosophy, hiking, or just simply talking to people;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Films:
I’m into a very diverse range of genre, one of my favourites is Yi Yi (A one and a two). I also like films that you can’t use language to describe your feelings after watching them.

Books:
I read extensively on literature, philosophy & history. Two books that inspired me are Albert Camus’ The Stranger and Sanmao’s Stories of the Sahara.

Music:
I like jazz, folk, Gypsy and rock, indie and R&B- a very mixed genre:)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One day when I was wandering around SOHO at New York City I started talking to a Tibetan photographer on the street. His story has changed some of my perspectives in life. I can share more about it if you’re interested!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook a dish for the host and bring a gift from Hong Kong! Of course, I treasure having good conversations with the host too.
