I am an American by birth and a New Zealander by choice, a proud citizen of both countries. My friends would describe me as friendly, interesting and well organised.

Occasionally I am a guest at a couch surfer's home, but mostly I host couch surfers.

Interests

I am active in conservation work, a member of several conservation trusts (Kauri Studies Trust, Three Streams Education Trust, New Zealand Trust for Conservation Volunteers) and I play a leading role in The Friends of Three Streams and Kauri Grove.
When I am not working I enjoy reading (mostly fiction), tramping (hiking), and traveling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most amazing travel moments have been traveling in Asia, especially China.
In New Zealand, I have tramped almost all of the Great Walks, several of them twice. I am also well-traveled in New Zealand. In fact, I have only met one person -- Barry Cope of Hamilton -- who has been to more places in New Zealand than I have.
