Our best overseas holidays are when we join the dots .. being the friends we have met while taking people sailing on Lake Taupo. We'd love to increase the number of people on our list.

ABOUT ME

We were both born and raised in NZ... in many North Island towns. Beaches, farming, fishing, sailing, vintage cars, and family history are our main interests. Bill made his hobby of sailing his work and from 1982 has taken thousands sailing on our lake and we have made many friends. We run an open home and Bill just loves to show off our fabulous lake and the Tongariro National Park area to anyone interested. When friends say to us.. "come and visit someday. we probably will. Our travel has taken us to the Pacific Isalnds, UK, USA, Canada, France, Spain, Japan."Bill has 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. We share them.

PHILOSOPHY

We treat others as we would like to be treated.. we work hard and find the harder we work the luckier we get.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are happy to find a couch... more likely a bed.. for travellers.We will make sure our guests find an experience they enjoy in our town. We find accepting bookings near to the time of travel suits us best. We expect to go to Turkey this year and will be looking for a couch or two.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our friend Wendy gave us a contact in Cornwall, England. We made the phone call, received directions which we followed exactly. But when we knocked on the door and introduced ourselves we were in the wrong house. By coincidence these people also knew Wendy.In a matter of moments we were having hot showers and a meal. Hospitality can be extraordinary.

Music, Movies, and Books

We dont read much fiction and the movies we enjoy are likely to be based on a life experience. Bill is a fan of classical orchestral music .. and we both enjoy ethnic, folk and country music... we enjoy live entertainment and music of all kinds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing on a wall waving the New Zealand flag at Valencia, Spain during the Americas Cup in 2007. It didn't matter who saw and there were thousands in the crowd.
