About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live the dream

ABOUT ME

My parents gave me the travel bug, taking me to live in New York as a 6 week old for 18 months. I grew up teething on dill pickles and bagels at the deli round the corner. Back in NZ, in Wellington I had the best childhood ever, although it seemed to involve a lot of Malcom-in-the-middle type arguments with my three younger bro's.

In 93, when I was the ripe old age of 8 we all packed up and went to the US of A for four years. For me it was like being in a movie - white christmases, yellow school buses, easter - actually in the spring, halloween candy... it was good fun. Then back to NZ, via a short stint in Melbourne, to do highschool and enjoy all those teenage years.

I couldn't wait to get down to Uni in Dunedin where I stayed at Knox College where I had some awesome times and met some amazing people. After getting into medical school, I decided that 23 was going to be too young to be a doctor, and I really wanted to see more of the world. I took to the air in 2006 to travel.

I couch surfed with Spela in Ljubljana, Slovenia and had such a great time I thought I should stay in the CS loop.

PHILOSOPHY

Have fun. Go Hard. Don't look back without having a good story to tell.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I can not offer a couch at the moment - I am living at home again (trying to keep the HUGE student loan I have to a minimum) and it is nearly a full house! However, I am happy to meet up in Christchurch, show you around, have coffee, a drink... this winter I may also be able to give people a lift up to the mountains for some snow time. I hope to get up most saturdays.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed with Spela in Ljubljana, Slovenia and had such a great time I thought I should stay in the CS loop. I wish I could have done more (and should have - just discovered CS too late in my travels. Late is better than never though!)

Interests

I enjoy travelling to learn about this crazy world works and get some insight into why people do what they do, or why they don't. I love meeting and talking to people, hearing new music, and generally exploring how the million threads of the world are different and the same. I have to admit I am a food and coffee addict, therefore anywhere with interesting food or good looking cafes (be they high or humble) I am keen to visit. Travelling has also made me appreciate chocolate a lot more as there is nothing like a quick chocolate fix to keep you going.

Music, Movies, and Books

I need to update this, but if I do it now I will just be procrastinating...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having breakfast in Siaulai, Lithuania, in front of the Hill of Crosses was a pretty unique experience. Also delivering a baby in Tanzania was very cool. Helping a boy who had lost both legs due to gangrene get his first crutches was also an amazing thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wish I could play the guitar, or at least, sing, or even dance in a more coordinated fashion. Being fluent in French would also make me happy. But as it is, I can shine happy vibes into the world, make you smile, and tell you all you need to know about how wicked NZ is. Sweets as Bro.
