About Me

"Responsible curiosity"

Hi, my name is Kiyoshi. I was born in Japan, but currently living in Lima.
I am what people know as "Hafu" - Half japanese and half peruvian.

As far as I can remember, I have always been a curious person and that led me to work on the advertisement field for several years as an Art Director and Designer. Currently, I run a creative agency in Lima.

Besides work, I find great joy in combining two of my greatest passions: learning and traveling. My focus on travel has shifted a little bit a couple of years ago because personally, while awe-inspiring landscapes and monuments can take your breath away, I've come to realize that it's the people who truly make a place special. That's why, every time I get the chance to travel, I make a conscious effort to respectfully learn the culture, traditions and customs of the places I am visiting trying to engage in conversations with locals. It's through these connections and conversations that I find genuine enrichment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been on Couchsurfing for more than 10 years now.
The main reason for me it's to get to know the locals and through them, learn more about life from different points of view.
I think Couchsurfing somehow helps you expand your world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can be listening to salsa and a minute after you can find me singing Okinawan folk songs.
So I am very open in terms of music, movies and books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lose more flights that I can recall.
Travel with my wife for 4 months.
Travel with my family and friends.
Bike through the east coast of Okinawa.
Leave Peru and start a new life in Argentina.
Backpack through Southeast Asia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be really glad to teach you about both of my cultures, Peruvian and the Japanese culture.
I would be really grateful if you could teach me more about yourself, your culture, food and life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Genuinely speaking, hosts can offer so much more than a regular surfer can.
However, what I can offer is respect to my host's place, a meal, genuine interest in getting to know you and if you are interested, about my knowledge of the places and experiences I have been lucky enough to live.
