About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Europe 2009

ABOUT ME

I am from a family of five, with my parents and an older sister and younger brother.

I am a student at Boston University, where I study International Relations and just completed my Junior (3rd) year.

I cannot wait to travel Europe this summer, and will be eternally grateful to anybody who is willing to host me and my friends. I hope to build lasting friendships on this trip.

PHILOSOPHY

"Peace is the only battle worth waging."-- Albert Camus

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a new member to CS who will be traveling Europe this summer, my participation right now consists of surfing. However, I am available to host until then, and hopefully more in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hope to gain several throughout my travels in Europe this summer.

Interests

I am an avid sports fan. I have played baseball, football, and basketball throughout my entire life. Being from Cleveland, I am a huge fan of the Browns (football), the Indians (baseball), and the Cavaliers (basketball). With LeBron James playing for the Cavs, I hope Cleveland will one day celebrate a championship.

Another interest of mine is politics. With Barack Obama as President, it is a great time to be excited about American politics!

I also enjoy film. Though I study International Relations, a dream of mine is to one day work in the film industry, preferably as a writer. I am currently going through the American Film Institutes top 100 Films, and have enjoyed every one I've seen so far.

I love meeting new people. While I may not be the most out-going person you've ever met, I enjoy conversation and getting to know new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will try to give a top 5: 1) The Godfather trilogy (technically 3 movies, but we'll let that go for now). 2) American Beauty. 3) Schindler's List. 4) Raging Bull. 5) City of God...... In no way is this top 5 set in stone. This is just a quick sample of what I enjoy.

As for music, I am mainly a fan of Hip-Hop: The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, and Immortal Technique.
I also enjoy Alt. Rock music: Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Killers, Kings of Leon, and Iron & Wine.
From my father's generation, I enjoy The Beatles (who doesn't?), Simon and Garfunkel, and CSNY.

I have fallen in love with the writings of Albert Camus. I just finished The Plague (La Peste), and am looking forward to starting The Fall (La Chute). I also enjoy the Harry Potter series, Catch-22, and The Audacity of Hope.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is travel Ireland and France with my family last summer. Achill Island in County Mayo, Ireland was the most gorgeous place I've ever seen. Dublin is a city I'd like to return to. Paris is one of the greatest cities in the world; right on par with NYC.

I hope to do more amazing things with my 2009 trip to Europe, my graduation from college in 2010, and perhaps a stint in the Peace Corps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn how to perfect my french. As a student of the language for the past several years, I feel I have improved much. However, perfecting the language is difficult when there are only 3 hours of class time per week. Not often do I have the opportunity to speak the language outside of class.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Ireland, United States
