I'm traveling through Europe for six weeks with my best friend after we graduate from college!

ABOUT ME

We've been best friends since before we were born and are very excited for this six-week trip to Europe.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is such a beautiful place and I plan on seeing as much of it as possible. I have dreams about where I want to be in a few years but after 16 years of school, I'm ready to have some fun and see in person all the things I've studied. - KarenI think I'm still figuring this out but I enjoy finding whats lovable in every person I meet. - Cathy

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Neither of us have been to Europe before so we're looking for hosts that will be willing to give us pointers on what to see and how to get there, as well as be forgiving when we flub the native language (or be willing to speak in English). We're staying in a city for only a few days and want to be sure we get the full experience from going to museums to going to the local pub to meet your friends.

Interests

Karen: Meeting new people, reading, music, dancing, singing, going to the theater or museum, going out.Cathy: I love meeting new people and hearing about their stories, nothing makes me feel more free than dancing, and I like to spend my time doing anything active hiking, bicycling, swimming are some of my favorites just to name a few!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love plenty of Broadway shows such as Aida, Wicked, South Pacific, but Les Mis is my all-time favorite. The other half of my music library is split between alternative music like Jack's Mannequin or fun. and pop music like Britney Spears, Rhianna, or Bruno Mars.There are way too many movies that I like to list them all but I love everything BUT horror. Some favorites include: To Kill a Mockingbird, The King's Speech, When Harry Met Sally, Horrible Bosses, and the Star Wars, Harry Potter, and LOTR series. Books...same as movies. Love them all except horror! The Scarlet Letter, (Shakespeare freak so I can't even list the plays I like), To Kill a Mockingbird, The Hobbit, Harry Potter series, any Jodi Picoult book, pretty much any book will make me happy! Hey, I'm an English major after all... ~ KarenLove all types of music, including country, but have a hard time appreciating heavy/death metal. Some of my favorites are Britney Spears, Wiz Khalifa and Rhianna.As for movies I'll watch anything once but don't enjoy scary films as much as dramas, comedies or romances. Some of my favorites are Remember the Titans, Jerry Maguire and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Love all books but science-fiction. Particularly enjoy history and historic fiction. Mitch Albom is one of my favorite writers but my favorite book is The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks.  - Cathy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When i was 12, my parents took my sister and me on a cross-country road trip to the western United States. It was amazing. Seeing the sunset over those mountains was beautiful. I'll never forget Mesa Verde National Park and walking through the villages Indians carved out of the cliffs. ~ KarenAfter my freshmen year of college I voluntarily lived in a homeless shelter with about 15 other students while we served as interns at the organization. The stories I heard and people I met amazed me everyday. - Cathy

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a huge film, TV, and book nerd so I'm known to throw out random references and/or quotes so you will definitely walk away with some pop culture references after a conversation with me. I love to share information I've learned as both an English major and just as a 22-year-old going through life.  ~ KarenKaren and I both enjoy learning new things so we are open to whatever anyone can teach us. I can't say that I am an expert in anything particular but I do enjoy sharing my knowledge with other people, as well as stories about who I am and what I am all about.  - Cathy
