About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to explore Japan and learn as much as I can in my time here!
ABOUT ME
I was born, raised, and lived in Ohio until I was 22 years old. During my time in university, I was a mentor for international students from all over the world. Thanks to them, I became interested in traveling. While I was a student, I studied abroad for a short time in both Italy and Costa Rica. I loved being abroad so much, that I decided that I wanted to try living in another country. So three months after graduating university, I moved to Japan and I've lived here ever since.
I spent two amazing years living and teaching junior high school in Chiba City. I spent nearly every weekend wandering around my beloved Tokyo. And then, about two years ago, I was transferred to Kobe because of my job. Now I teach elementary school and I love my job!
I'm planning on returning to the States for good next summer. My goal is to visit all of the prefectures in Japan (I have only 5 left to go!!!) and as many countries in Asia as possible!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am just beginning to explore CS and I would love to become more involved in the future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed while I was traveling around Tohoku during my first summer in Japan. My host was an incredibly nice guy and it was a wonderful experience!
For the past two summers, I've spent a few weeks traveling around Japan by myself. On my travels, I've had the pleasure of staying with some absolutely amazing hosts. The kindness and hospitality of the people that I've met on this site never ceases to amaze me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did hurricane relief in New Orleans after it was hit by Hurricane Katrina. It was by far the most amazing trip of my life. We visited some of the worst hit areas, talked with the people who were trying to rebuild their lives, and assisted them in any way that we could. Although I was only there for a week, I completely fell in love with New Orleans. Not only is it a beautiful city, but the people there are so kind, positive, and full of life. I hope to go back once I return to the States.
