About Me

CURRENT MISSION

climb, surf, hike, swim, be a tourist in my own country

ABOUT ME

tall
hollow bones - ravenous appetite
fast metabolism
flexitarian - very fussy about the meat i eat, must basically be hormone free Namibian type stuff. no "free range" !

lately i've developed an obsession with climbing difficult rock faces ...

broke my right arm on a snowboarding stunt but it's healing nicely :-)

PHILOSOPHY

my life has been a bit crazy... it has been one long holiday for 25 years, now i am working to make money but don't ask why, i guess i'm saving up for something big
i have seen the light i am studying full time again in 2011.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Stellenbosch is a special place in South Africa surrounded my mountains and has everything to offer for the outdoor enthusiast... I really enjoy meeting new people, showing them around and assisting them to have a great stay in this special town.

the first three that come to mind:
movies
======
march of the penguins
books
======
non-fiction books like QED, Just Six Numbers, The Doors of Perception. Reality is stranger than fiction ;-)
music
======
all good music, except pop tv radio crap

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

first open water dive at bassas da india
looked down into an active volcano to hear,see,smell and almost feel lava spurting out
sailed around Central America / the Caribbean
played records to a crowd of stomping crazy dancers :)

Teach, Learn, Share

lately i've been learning the most amazing things from the living book of nature. generally i follow the descartesian method of using my rational mind to understand nature but occasionally i have experiences such as shared dreams, precognition and hallucination which i find difficult to explain using my training as a scientist

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Cuba, Cyprus, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Madagascar, Namibia, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela
