关于我

CURRENT MISSION
Hitchhiker's guide to Russia!
For now (for the whole summer'17) I'm traveling around my native country, Russian Federation, I've started from my hometown, Saint-Petersburg and moving forward to the East! Trying to figure out the most interesting cities, countryside sights and other points of interests that are located by the way I'm moving or nearby the route I've chosen :)

ABOUT ME
That is a hard question because you cannot be objective to yourself. But I strongly believe that I'm quite close to the person that I'm going to describe you down :D
I've always tried to change something in the world. For now I'm working with social projects. I am trying to do my best to change the things around me.
I was educated as IT developer, studying computer science for my whole life, since the eighth grade.
And then I decided to change my career and all my lifestyle. So I changed the path from science to start up projects. Still many of them are connected with IT, but mostly I'm trying to be connected with global volunteering. So I do want all of my start up projects to change the things around me. And my crew and I are trying to invent something that will help all of us to live easier and better.
I'm a volunteer. I do social work. It's a state of mind, my way of life. Most of the time my social work is trying to solve and highlight the problems I see around myself.

PHILOSOPHY
I do strongly believe in people. I do believe in love and power of human's mind. I think that self-education is one of the most important thing in the world. And if you are going to change the world you should start from yourself. And it is very important to find yourself and your place in the world. And even if you had done this you would not stop looking. l accept the YOLO thing. So I'm wishing to try more that anyone can imagine!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've joined CS a few years ago just because CS is not just about free hosts but about the people. The people who are able to share their hospitality, exchange knowledge and find new friends.
My CS experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I am fortunate to have not had any disasters (and I have never heard of any horror stories).
As a result of CS, I’m more confident, I’ve learned to adapt and I’ve learned a lot about myself. Plus, I’ve gained a number of awesome friendships, for which I am so grateful.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

1. As a ‘surfer’.
I've stayed at different apartments in many different cities and got a chance to make friends with a big amount of different hosts. All of them were incredible people, for myself I find that staying with someone allows for a much deeper connection than randomly bumping into locals at the pub (which is also fun, of course!).

2. As a ‘host’.
Truth be told, I’ve never hosted anyone back in my hometown, Saint-Petersburg. But in retrospect, I regret not being able to.

3. Hangouts.
The best thing for me has been connecting with other travelers through meet ups and events, and exploring local’s points of interests. That's a great opportunity to expand your worldview.

兴趣

Talking about my interests I should name the biggest ones - languages, traveling and visual arts.
I'll say some words about traveling. I travel not that much as I wish to but every journey I'm trying to understand where I am and what is around me. Traveling helps me to find and share interesting and important stories that I'm learning during my journeys. I've even tried to record own podcasts about my every single trip. Traveling alone helps me to fulfill my heart with the places I visit and to get much more stronger 💪
Now I will tell about the last point I've mentioned. I prefer all kinds of visual arts - cinema, theatre, paintings. I do like galleries and state museums of arts. I'm visiting theatres at least two times a week.
I'm trying to find myself in art and find art in myself. I'm a little bit of an actor, a little bit of designer but my biggest hobby is photography!
I strongly believe in power of visual language. I'm sure that by photographing I can share my point of view and my worldview with the others.
As for the live views that can help to know the city I prefer rooftops! So can show the best ones in my city!
I also like postcards! I do think that is the best way to have a chance to know about a place you've never visited. So I'm keen on postcrossing. Even if we won't met we can always send postcard to each other to know each other better and to have a small knowledge about our hometown or places we have been to.

音乐、电影和书籍

MUSIC
I like all kinds of music, that strongly depends on my current mood. I'm listening to classic music while meditating or thinking on solutions of different problems.
I would listen to Katy Perry cleaning my kitchen or making dinner.
When I get mad I listen David Bowie. He is my own hero so his music helps me a lot. When I get sad I'm listening to velvet underground and Lou Reed. While standing alone at home I'll listen to Simon&Garfunkel. And when I'm going to hang out I'll choose a jazz bar, that's the best way to spend Friday evening! Covers by She&Him are really awesome! I've also like concerts and nightlife, I've been to RHCP concert, Arctic monkeys and all of the indie rock groups!

MOVIES
I'm a real cinemaholic! I'm keen on the history of cinematography, which I was studying for three years. As for me the best movies were produced in France, Belgium and Poland. So can show your the greatest "hits" of all times, but you should be ready to watch b&w dramas for 4 hours each :D Also I can show you the most interesting and knowledgeable films of Russian directors.

BOOKS
As for the literature I prefer Russian ones, because I do strongly believe that only reading books in original language can fully give the sense, expressions and meanings.
And all the translations are not that wright and that exact. They are already not the original books but more like the new ones, fanfics, written using the original ones as a plot.
I'm not saying that I'm reading nothing but Russian literature but that I do understand and feel it all better.
So my top looks like that: Chekhov, Nabokov, Bulgakov.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I'm trying to live a life that anyone never could have imagined. I think I will have an opportunity to tell you more about my lifestyle in person! As for the greatest thing I hope I will tell you about in the nearest future!

教,学,和分享

Self-education is the most important thing in my life, so I'm trying to learn everywhere and going to learn everything around me. I've got a big amount of interests. But more of all I would like to know about the traditional crafts, local traditions and food, culture of the place I'm going to visit, history of architecture and urban planning. Also I'm interesting in different languages, I'm studying German and Chinese now, and got English as a basic one. So we can make a small language exchange.
And from my side I can show you the first steps of a professional photographer, also can offer you a photo walk around the nearest sights. Moreover I was working as a pastry chef for a couple of years so I can teach you how to cook and we can make a great dinner! I do like guitar music and I can play a guitar a little bit, and for now trying to learn how to play ukulele and mandolin!

My apartment is located not in the centre of the city but in a nearest district to the downtown. It's the best neighborhood for going out and walking around for sure. There is a big beautiful park nearby with many pond so you can rent a catamaran or a small boat ⛵️ Also there are lots of cozy coffee shops and bakeries that a can recommend to visit after walking around. My district was planned to host all the city government back to USSR times, so it is really clean and well planned with gorgeous architecture.
Talking about the apartment, I should say that it is quite clean and cozy with a big sofa, that can be important :) I've also got a cat 🐱 that is not that nice but I'm sure by the end of staying you will be the member of his fun club.
I can offer you local knowledge, good conversation, free accommodation, new friends, tasty dinner and even a personal guide tour around the city if I'm not busy that day. I used to work at the state Hermitage museum and a couple of other ones while studying at high school. So also can give you many advices on what to visit. I'm okay with not hanging out, but that will be a great pleasure for me to show you my hometown. I've also was crazy about rooftops, so can show the best points of views to watch the city panorama.
So if you would like to stay at my place please write the secret password "yolo" in the first line of your message to make me know that you have read my profile :)
