Hej ('hi' in danish, 'gruezi' in swiss german), now we are two on this profile :)
Deni (my wife) and me. I have a large imagination and I love listening to stories. I still believe in fairytales and I like to believe there is still some magic behind all the things in this world. Reality is for people without imagination ;) Above all, I love to see and make people smile.

**One small update: we are currently moving back to Aalborg, Denmark, and are now in the process of furnishing our apartment... for a while without couch**

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host when I was living in Switzerland and Belgium before, and we hosted as well in Denmark. We just moved to Laramie, so we're still trying to find our way around on this side of the Atlantic. We do have a small couch though. Everything is just a little different here, but we'll try to make the best out of it.
When I'm in Belgium: I can show you around in Leuven, Hasselt and all Limburg: the north-east part of Belgium. Of course I can give some information about the other Belgian cities, but discovering them together with other couchsurfers is a fun way to get to know my own country better :D
We have a lot of tips for Denmark: Aalborg and North Jutland, Aarhus and surroundings and some nice places in Copenhagen ...
I also like having breakfast, lunch, dinner of just a cup of coffee. Yet, I'm totally not communicative until my first coffee of the day (or tea when my stomach is upset), however, for hosts I can make an exception ;).
I hosted at my place in Leuven and Aalborg and until now, I've surfed only around in Europe.
I do participate in events and helping to organize one is no problem at all.

When hosting, I try to meet my guests the moment they arrive in the city and provide some touristic information of the region and tips and tricks how to discover the city. After that you can tell me if you would like to discover the city on your own or not. Everyone is a different kind of traveler. During weekdays I will probably have to work, but in the weekends we can join you and (try to) guide a little if you would like this.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It started by surfing a friends couch in Maastricht, The Netherlands. After that I hosted in Leuven, Belgium and Aalborg, Denmark. Last year I hosted as well in Zurich, Switzerland. My first longer CS experience was a roadtrip wilst couchsurfing through Switzerland in February 2009.
In Leuven I hosted surfers from Holland, France, Belgium and the USA. I've been participating in lots of events/meetings, most of the time in Belgium.
I'm always into a couchsurfmeeting and organising one is no problem at all :)
Together with Deni I hosted some couchsurfers in Denmark in our apartment and had some nice guests with interesting stories and perspective on life.
In Zurich, in 2012, I hosted surfers from the States, Canada, Poland, Russia, Switzerland and many more.
In August 2014 we made a road-/water-trip through South-Finland.

Interesses

Playing music(saxophone, piano, percussion),would love to learn playing the violin and cello
Listening to music (classic to modern, jazz to hiphop, opera to rock,...)
Reading books in the language they're originally written, but talk about them in English, Dutch, French. Danish or German :D
Watching movies in their original language (with subtitles)
Running, Cycling ,Climbing (yet, sometimes I'm afraid of heights), sports in the outdoors in general.

Sunset on a sailboat on the Lac Lemans near Lausanne on a couchsurftrip through Switzerland because my host forgot I was coming to surf that day :D and already planned the trip...

A 3-week trip couchsurfing across NE-USA and up North following the Saint Lawrence river in Canada. Still sorting out the memories with a big smile on my face. Some of them will certainly get up here, but I'll upload them in a while :)

Enjoying tasty dinners in small restaurants in dark backalleys in Kyoto without really knowing what we were eating.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

One thing I'll be able to teach is baking a chocolate-cake or Belgian waffles and I can tell you something more about the clownpowerproject. And if you really want to, I can make you up a bedtimestory (e.g. about penguins, pirates, princesses or treasures or ... you name it)... I can share maybe some of my passion for Scottish whiskey or Belgian beer? and maybe some of the nice places in Aalborg to have a drink... But tea and coffee or also a nice drink to accompany a conversation.
