About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking every opportunity presented to see the world!

ABOUT ME

My name is Kristine (with a K) and I grew up in Michigan which I've become much more defensive of since constantly leaving the state (funny how that works isn't it!). I have lived in Milan, Italy and a couple spots in Turkey and now I live in New York in Williamsburg with all of the other "creative" people.

I'm down for anything and I like other people who are easy going and adventurous as well. It's hard to describe myself so here are some random facts: I hate traveling with people who don't like to walk, sometimes I plan entire trips around the activity of eating and I miss my dog all the time (his name is Milo but I call him Jacques Cousteau). I try to get into the culture of a place versus just seeing the sights however a lot of the time it doesn't matter where you are as long as you're with cool people. I would say I'm more on the active side than the chill side because I always want to have new experiences!

PHILOSOPHY

I am young and I love to be young! Just trying to have any and every experience that provides awareness of something greater than the bubble that is myself.

Interests

Youth culture. I'm kidding (sort of, have you ever read 1989: Bob Dylan didn't have this to sing about by Joshua Clover?). Music, Thrifting/fashion, Social Media, FOOD, Film (I like Terrence Malick, I know it's slow, but I'm not ashamed! and of course Wes Anderson), traveling obviously, Classic Literature, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Philip Roth are my favorite. My macbook pro which provides all of this entertainment? hahah

Music, Movies & Books

Film: In The Mood For Love, Amelie, Io Sono Amore, Manhattan, Moonrise Kingdom, A Clockwork Orange, Alice, City of God, The Royal Tennenbaums, Bernie Music: STRFKR, AlunaGeorge, Clean Bandit, Azealia Banks, Kendrick.Lamar., Frankie Ocean, Beirut, Bombay Bicycle Club, Marina and the Diamonds, Phoenix, Local Natives, The Beach Boys, Alex Turner, but I like lots of things Books: 100 Years of Solitude, A Gesture Life, Goodbye Columbus, Jane Eyre - Right now I'm reading Murakami.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I was in Greece on Easter at a tiny resort overrun with American college students and on a walk through town, somehow ended up getting invited to Easter dinner with a random Greek family who sang to us, set off fireworks and stuffed our faces with homemade traditional dishes and ouzo. Despite not being able to communicate, it was so cool to be there.

Teach, Learn, Share

If someone offers for you to stay somewhere cost effectively, take advantage of any opportunity to go somewhere new, even if it sounds like an unappealing one. Every experience is a learning process, and if you appreciate small things even undesirable things can turn out to be meaningful.
