What's life?

ABOUT ME

I just finish a PhD in philosophy and cognitive sciences. I graduated in philosophy. I like literature, movies, and music, and I really enjoy to discuss them and share my feelings with friends and others. I like to travel, to meet new people from all over the world, exchanging experiences, knowledge and different ways of life. I also dance tango: I fell in love with it almost four year ago, and since then I have been trying to dance the more I can!

PHILOSOPHY

Be yourself... even if you still have to know who you are! And if you don't know, then have the more different experiences you can... well, I'm still looking for my personal philosophy, it's hard to find it.

At the moment I'm living in Florence: write me for any question about the city, I will try to help you, and we can meet for an Italian coffee or a guided tour!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing is exciting! I have always met open-minded people and I have felt welcomed without being asked nothing back. Nowadays it's so difficult to have the experience of a gift without nothing in exchange... I feel very honoured when it happens, and it helps me to believe in other peoples. Of course this helps me to be more open to others, too!

Tango? This is on the top of the list! I love science fiction, for its chance to figure out different scenarios... in general I like to imagine and to think about how much different reality could be: maybe I am an idealist, but do you want to talk about that with me? (My friends know that I really like to talk with people...)

I like to read books about the places where I want to travel: it helps me to know the history of a country, its culture, its mood. I also have some favourite writers. Between Italians, I love Dino Buzzati. Between foreigner writers, I really like the Swiss Max Frisch, I think he is one of the greatest.
Then I have a passion for science fiction and for cyberpunk. Hence if you read Asimov and Gibson we can talk a lot about them!
My favourite science fiction movies are Strange Days, Nirvana and Blade Runner. When I was young I liked action movies: now I feel too old for them, but I still keep a place in my memory for Indiana Jones...
I like Italian folk music, especially Eugenio Finardi and Pippo Pollina (a Sicilian singer not very known in Italy, who is instead very popular in Germany). I like to listen East Coast jazz (Bill Evans, Jerry Mulligan), and rock music (I enjoyed Skunk Anansie - when they were still together, and I am a fan of Anouk - a day I will see one of her concert...).

I travelled a bit around Europe. I can change my needs according to the situation, so I had different travel experiences: interrail, Summer schools, language courses, volunteer international camps, work holidays... I really enjoyed 2007 Summer, when I worked as a bike messenger in Dublin.

Tango! I started to dance one year ago, but I still haven't lost the beginner maniac attitude... if you dance tango, you know what I mean! So let's go to dance together...
I also studied grafology (the way to understand personality from the handwriting) for three years: I'll try to make you an analysis of your handwriting if you are interested in that!
