About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Well, my main mission in life is to be happy. At the moment that means getting very excited about our upcoming holiday to see friedns and family

ABOUT ME

All about me...? Well, you gotta see for yourself. :) I like people, animals and nature and I like to be happy and comfortable. I am not one for prejudice and like to make up my mind for myself. I am easy going and like having a laugh. something that's important to me is consideration, fairness and honesty. Towards your fellow people and the world/nature in general. Lots of it has to do with common sense in my opinion. My partner Nik and I have been together for close to 9 years and I reckon we are a great team. We share the same values and that makes everything possible. He is a lot quieter than me which I probably a good thing :)

PHILOSOPHY

Yes, somehow you could say it - we are a greenies. Because if it comes to philosphy I have to say - as little impact as possible on this planet - don't waste, re-use, make it yourself. Within limits of course, because I do want to enjoy myself too (refer to mission). So maybe I rather call it good old common sense. Nik was amazed the other day that at his work he counts as a hippy because we cycle to work and don't watch TV anymore. Oh, and because Nik brews beer for us :) Kinda funny though how quickly you are out of the mainstream....

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I think it is an awesome idea to share space and experience with other like-minded people. I'd love to meet people when they stay with me and looking forward to show them around - make their trip memorable (I love having visitors). At the same time I am very keen to find a couch to rest my head should I be travelling again. I reckon it could be whole lot of fun!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's really is quite a great thing. Yes, there can be good experiences and not so good ones but then there is the occasional gem that makes it all worth it :). As a host it's great to keep and open mind and not to get too set in your own ways - priceless!

Interests

We both enjoy growing our own food and making things. I have a feeling we will end up on a little farm eventually. We both enjoy mountain biking and hiking/tramping. I enjoy a quiet moment chilling in my hammock while Nik is probably off somewhere tinkering with something. And there is always some quality time in our day to spend with good friends.

Music, Movies & Books

Oh, I love books, movies and music because I can truly loose myself in it. That's why I am a sucker for horror or suspense - just freaks my out big time. In general as long as movies are entertaining, mildly smart and not too predictable I am happy with it. We both are members of a local film society with screens random foreign movies every Monday. We both love it because it engages you on a different level each time and even if the movie was crap your mind was still stimulated.
Favourites: The good, the bad and the ugly, The sting, Into the Wild, Wes Anderson movies, The red violin, In Bruges, Flight of the Concords, most sci-fi :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I found a great, simple technique for making really amazing bread and Nik can tell you a thing or two about making beer. We both like to cook and try out new things.
