About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living each day like it might be my last
ABOUT ME
I work for Los Angeles County as a social worker in South Central Los Angeles. Working as a social worker in South Central LA has given me the opportunity to work hands on with some of the most disproportionately underprivileged individuals in the United States.
While obtaining my Master's degree at the University of Southern California I was given the opportunity to work with individuals with a wide range of deficits. I was able to spend one year practicing psychotherapy with older adults suffering with dementia and AlzheimerâÃâ¬Ãâ¢s. I also spent one year working with and researching the needs of international and domestic victims of human trafficking.
In summer 2010, I traveled abroad to Europe with the University of Southern California to explore social issues in European countries and how to effectively develop and implement policies relating to individuals facing discrimination due to their sexual identities and gender orientation.
PHILOSOPHY
Your attitude should be a projection of what you want, not what you're dealing with.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Summer 2010 I did a semester in Europe! The class was Gender Identidy and Sexual Orientation of European Countries. Some examples of my work include, outreach with prostitutes in the Red Light district of Amsterdam, advocated for same-sex adoptioning couples in Belgium and identify ways to decrease welfare recipients in Germany.
Teach, Learn, Share
My Master's internship was at CAST(Coalition to Abolish Slavery and human Trafficking). Human trafficking, also known as "modern day slavery" is a HUGE issue both domestically and internationally. Currently, human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise second to drug and arms sales. There are estimates that 27 million individuals are enslaved across the world, with 1 million of them being children used as commercial sex slaves every year. Please get involved and help educate others.
