Overview
About Me
I am a final year MSc student in mathematics living in Montreal, Canada. Moving to Montreal (I am currently from rural Manitoba, Canada) has proved to be a revolutionizing experience. I discovered that a future in mathematics wasn't going to cut it and then, out of no where, landscape architecture. The last couple of months have been spent putting as much spare time to this field as possible.
Enough about the CV topics... in my daily life it is my aim to be friendly, open, honest, creative, contributing, community-minded.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've recently joined Couchsurfing. As I am a student longer and longer, and travel more and more to new cities for short stays at conferences, workshops, etc., my desire to discover more intimately these cities during these short stays is increasing. What better way than to stay with those people who know it best.
Unfortunately, my own apartment doesn't allow me to return the favour of hosting. In another phase of life I will pass on the hospitality.
Interests
These are varied, but the broad terms 'natural environment', and more specifically 'plants' captures nearly all of them. I love to look at these from all possible perspectives: scientific, culinary, medical, recreational, artistic, philosophical, cultural. If you're thinking 'She's missed _____', then see my comment below about learning; I'd love to discuss this perspective!
With the former, undoubtedly the notion of landscape, but also hiking, camping, and climatology. As for plants, I love looking at them, looking at paintings of them, growing them, arranging them, cooking them, eating them, drinking them, studying them, healing with them...
An important interest for me which doesn't fit in above is surface tiling. These are the most beautiful confluence of mathematics and architecture I have yet found.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: nearly all of it live, hardly any of it recorded.
Books: All time favourites include Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, Steinbeck's East of Eden, and Robert Hart's delightful little introductory book on Forest Gardening. I've just discovered Frank O'Hara's poems and I am nearly certain they will be a new love.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting the Grand canyon. I did nothing amazing, but the canyon - oh wow!
Teach, Learn, Share
Everyone has something to teach me. I can share a passion for learning and hope.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my desire to get to know your city and what you love and don't love above it. Whatever amount of time you have during my stay to spend with me is perfect. I would be delighted to share dinner and drinks, but if all you have is a moment to recommend the best art museum and local coffee shop, it's fine too. Living with 4 roommates, means I am used to living under the same roof as others and all that entails. I will be a respectful and tidy guest.
