About Me
ABOUT ME
We are a married couple who completed a round-the-world-trip in 2011. Since then, we've been working hard and dreaming of new adventures. We're off again in early 2014 and cannot wait! We keep a travel blog at: www.mintjellie.com
PHILOSOPHY
Our travel philosophy is that we will try just about anything, especially if recommended by a local. We are after that thing that all travelers seek - a non-touristy experience (even though we are really tourists as well!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, we've surfed a few times and joined a couple of meet ups, and met lots of great folks in both ways. We have had the pleasure of hosting a few times, which was also a lot of fun.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have had awesome couchsurfing experiences. In the eta of Airbnb I find the Couchsurfing mission even more important. We understand the responsibilities of being a guest and also appreciate the incredible benefits of staying with a local.
Interests
We both love to eat and are interested in dining like locals wherever we travel. This can sometimes be tricky, but the challenges language barriers and dining customs have presented have actually ended up being great fun so far.
We both love seeing live music (and Suhail is a musician) and try to check out local groups whenever we can. I would say our main preference is "rock," but we enjoy a range of stuff.
We like exploring places on foot whenever practical, but also just sitting and watching a city go by.

Music, Movies, and Books
We both love movies, music and books...but really, who doesn't? To list all our favorites here would be impossible...not to mention, our tastes are varied, but overlapping. As stated above, Suhail is a musician (drums and guitar) and we love seeing live music whenever we can.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On our round-the-world trip we learned to scuba dive so we could see the beautiful underwater world of Thailand's islands and Indonesia, we visited the temples of Angkor, cruised the backwaters of Kerala, spent a week in the more-incredible-than-words-can-convey Galapagos Islands, and much more...it was awesome!
Teach, Learn, Share
We can speak in Spanish (or try to) or English and are happy to do both for the sake of practice. We can cook and maybe even teach you an Indian dish or two. Suhail can show you how to put together and take apart a skateboard and has the patience to teach you the basics of riding it (and, yes, he is actually traveling around the world with not one, but two skateboards!).
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Australia, Cambodia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam
