About Me

My travels are inspired by a wide variety of things. First and foremost, I love exploring and everyday adventures! I know it is a bit cliché but for me, these adventures involve meeting people, seeing my surroundings through their perspectives, discovering the history and culture of new places, and trying things I've never experienced before (even if it is as simple as a new food dish)! I thoroughly enjoy exploring cities and towns, but, if I'm honest, my heart resides where nature is. I relish being outdoors, whether it's hiking, swimming, paddling, biking, or even just sitting back and admiring the view.

Much like everyone else, I have limits to what I'm comfortable with, but past experiences have also led me to the belief that life can not truly be experienced if I don't step outside of those limits every once in a while. Part of what I love about journeying to different places, meeting new people, and experiencing new things is the personal challenge and self-discovery that comes with it!

I enjoy encountering new ideas, and there are not very many topics I refrain from. There are, however, some subjects I can't get enough of (including history, literature, the arts, environmental science, and a few others), and though I have a sincere fondness for books, my favorite way to delve into these topics is through conversations!

I also love food! I don't think it is possible to be human and not love food (or at least one dish or drink). More so, I love the experience of food - how it brings people together and breaks down barriers. Food is an essential ingredient in any society, and I find it to be one of the most inviting ways to get to know people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have done a bit of traveling in the past, and, without exception, the best experiences I've had always involved the friends I have made and time spent with them. I've enjoyed long nights of fantastic conversation and early mornings at the start of amazing adventures with the wonderful people I've had the pleasure of meeting!
I find it more and more difficult and disheartening to journey to new places and not connect with people there. The heartbeat of any place is the people who call it home, and I love seeing each part of the world through the eyes of the people who know it best!
I love traveling most when I can visit friends and share my adventures with them, and it is for this reason that I decided to try couch surfing.

Interests

In addition to exploring the world, I enjoy reading, gardening, cooking, learning how to fix things, dancing (though mostly at home with only family and friends around), and trying to develop new talents (learning languages, painting, knitting, etc.). (I'm not very good at any of those, but I really like the learning process!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a personal philosophy about teaching and learning which revolves around the idea that sharing ideas and personal experiences should done with an open mind and a willing heart. I'm happy to share what I know, and even happier to learn and listen!
