Overview
About Me
My childhood was spent in West Africa, my college years in America and the last 25 years in The Netherlands. At the moment, I am on an extended journey, a transitional stage in life. I have left behind the security of my job and the life it provided me and I have embraced the uncertainty of being on the move for the coming years. I am doing this via WorkAway, which allows me to use my many DIY skills in service of others, while building new (and at times challenging) relationships with those same people. My plans were to end in Portugal after a year or more of traveling. For the time being, I am in the South of France.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Although I joined CouchSurfing.com some years ago, I have only had one experience staying with a host, and sadly have never hosted. Couchsurfing is a great way, similar to WorkAway (which I am doing at the moment), to meet new and interesting people, and a more personal way to experience being in a new place. At the heart of couchsurfing (and WorkAway), I believe, is the basic human instinct of sharing, which has a freshness we do not often find in modern society.
