Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is the first time in my life, I am 38, as my son has just left the nest, that I am setting off on a yearlong backpacking sabbatical. A journey into finding myself. Starting off in Peru and I will journey unwards to Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador and Ecuador. Then from South America to Mecixo then South Africa and Europe. I am very grateful to be apart of the couch surfing community, to be able meet and befriend amazing people from all over the world and to learn their culture. And as this is my first time taking an overseas extended backpacking trip I will be grateful for any tips and guidance. And couchsurfing also gives me a sense of safety and community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gave up my apartment, sold all my stuff and reduced my life down to a backpack and setting off on this backpacking journey.
