About Me

Hi!

I'm an easygoing, friendly person who loves to get outside and meet new people. I'm a teacher, so I get to spend my summers exploring. I spend my winters in the mountains near Vancouver, and in various classrooms and coffee shops (I'm also a writer) throughout the city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I thought I'd give it a try! I've heard great things from friends who've done it, and it seems like a fun way of meeting folks who live in the places I want to visit. Next stop is Canmore!

Interests

Writing, climbing, running, hiking, camping...anything that gets me outside! I also enjoy yoga, reading, and singing/guitar playing. There are lots of other things too, but these are the basics :p

Music, Movies, and Books

Music...I'm on a First Aid Kit kick right now, but my taste is pretty eclectic. Anything I can sing along to, really!

Movies...I don't really watch a lot of movies.

Books...I'm reading "Stolen Life" right now, by Rudy Wiebe, which is not an easy read. I've also got a book of David Foster Wallace essays on the go (because I can never read just one book at a time). I also just picked up a travel guide for Sri Lanka (maybe early spring??) and am always up for a good mystery novel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gotten published in the Globe and Mail! Also, most of my time outside ends up feeling pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my favourite quotes is, "I'm practicing replacing my assumptions with curiosity."

What I Can Share with Hosts

A friendly chat, or a quiet space. An adventure or relaxation. Book suggestions, exchanges of life stories, jam sessions, climbing sessions, tasty meals, or whatever you're up for. I'm pretty easygoing and accommodating :)
