I'm on a quest for adventure and exploration. Not necessarily expensive, not vital to be dangerous. I like to see the highest peak, and do a bit of beachcombing here and there. Sunrise, sunset, take in the stars. Ruins are a favorite.

I typically travel new cities by bicycle, and try to take ~1 trip per month (preferably by bike). I like to stay with friends or hosts where loaner bikes are available, if possible. Otherwise, I'm adaptable.

Other hobbies:
Film photography, funny home food fermentation projects - my kitchen notebook is a bit nuts, contemporary art, aerial silks, dance performance, playing dress-up, beach swimming, desert camping, rock wall climbing, rental car rally - pics or it didn't happen!, tiki bars, dive bars, concerts, indulgent events that build community and spread joy, fun.

I like to travel off the beaten path, and occasionally enjoy exploring creepy stuff too.

I guess - I enjoy things that highlight the funny, odd or off-putting moments of every day life. I like things that are a little bit pretty, and a little bit off at the same time.

I devour cookbooks and instructional how-to books. I thoroughly enjoy Chuck Klosterman - Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs in particular.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

In 2014, I attended Burning Man, in Black Rock City, Nevada. While at the event, I waited during a dust storm in a queue in the outdoor airport lobby to ride in an airplane. Most people waiting abandoned the queue after a while. I took an on/off 4 hour nap with a dust mask and goggles on, since the "lobby" was outdoors and open to the elements. Eventually more pilots showed up to do flyovers. When my turn to ride came up, I was asked if I would like to fly the plane. My answer was "yes", so I did - and flew our craft around a mountain.

I love to teach and learn handmade processes. I make dumplings, pastry, pickles, kimchi. I like to knit, crochet, weave, and spin. I know how to make lace by hand. I live in constant fear that someday, someone, somewhere will let me shear a sheep and card the wool, and that somehow I will end up with a small herd of sheep at my end of days. I like to get to know processes from very very beginning to the absolute end.

I'm super keen on good eating, and can give you the scoop on what's delicious in San Francisco: how to eat cheap, what's great in your neighborhood, how to eat well and not spend hours in lines, etc.
