American journalist. I mostly write about and from South and Southeast Asia. Currently in Delhi, and spent two years living in Indonesia. I'm very interested in religion and culture and tend to write a lot about it in my work. Beyond Indonesia, I've reported from Nigeria and the Balkans. I was an Amtrak train writer-in-resident in 2016, where I rode a train around the continental US, and that was my introduction to couchsurfing :)
