About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hello All,

My partner, Matt, and I both work, live, and study in Tucson, Arizona. As full-time students and employees we tend to be quite busy, but we enjoy hosting couchsurfers for the break from the norm that their visits provide and for the opportunity to learn and explore from our own couches, so to speak. Our own experiences hosting and being hosted have all been positive - couchsurfing is great!

A few more details about us and visiting us:
- Matt speaks Spanish and French fluently (and enjoys the chance to practice), my language interests are noted above in the details!
- We prefer hosting on the weekends as we are away from the house for most of the day Monday-Friday.
- We live in a condo complex, so you'll have access to pools, hot tubs, and tennis courts while visiting, but it also means that we like to keep the noise down at our house to be respectful of neighbors.

ABOUT ME

Within the past four years, I've spent the time living in 3 different countries and 2 different States. It's been a whirlwind, but I love the people I've met and the crazy situations I have found myself in.
I (Kate) am currently an employee at the local Uni and am finishing up my graduate degree in library sciences. I previously taught English as a foreign language in the Republic of Georgia and China, and I am still really interested in literacy initiatives, learning new languages, and working with people from various backgrounds and learning from them. Matt also loves learning new languages and if you happen to speak French or Spanish, he'll appreciate the practice.

Matt is an engineer in town, and has lived in Tucson for several years. He's got insight into nearly all of the restaurants and happenings in town and will be a great resource for things to do.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe you should always live life for the sweet memories you can share and keep.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some of my best friends were met through couchsurfing, or our friendships were strengthened by couchsurfing together. I recently got to stay with a former surfer in their hometown and it just reaffirmed the great way that couchsurfing can connect people around the world and that the friendship and connection doesn't have to end once you leave.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a pathetic excuse of an American when it comes to our pop culture. However, I love to read and could discuss a wide array of books - just not necessarily the films or series based on them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently just went from not having rode a bike in 10 years to biking through New Zealand's South Island!

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's eat, drink, and be merry!

Also, if you want to teach me a new language - that'd be amazing!
