ABOUT ME

Having made men, Zeus entrusted Hermes with pouring over them some intelligence. Hermes, making equal quantities, poured for each man his portion. Thus it happened that the short men, covered by their portion, became sensible people, but the tall men, not being covered all over by the mixture, had less sense than the others.

PHILOSOPHY

Like I have tattooed on my wrist "live and let live." I might think some things people do are wrong, but whose to say I'm right in my assessment? I live my life how I see fit, according to what I think is right and wrong, fair and unfair but thats all relative. One man's excess is another's moderation, so just live your life how you want and don't discriminate or judge others for what you think isn't 'normal'.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I share my life and house with whoever pleases to request it, and hope people do the same when I'm out and about. I have made some of the best and truest connections of my life through this site. I'm grateful for the opportunity it gives for random strangers to become life long friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

From drunken swimming in the ocean at 4 am, to hosting 8 people in my tiny one-bedroom apartment I have had nothing but great experiences through this site. Met the most interesting of people, from all types of socio-economic backgrounds. Wouldn't trade my couchsurfing experience for anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

A lot of different variations of all three. With books I'm generally interested in philosophical works (Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Russell, Machiavelli, etc.) and a lot of classic comedies (Aristophanes, Menander, Plautus, Euripides) and of course Homer and Virgil. What can I say? I'm a sucker for classical antiquity. Although I'm not limited to just those, I read everything but they just happen to be my favorite types. My favorite type of music would probably be any and every piece of rock that came out in the time period between the late 50's through the 70's (Zep, Floyd, Dylan, Who, Doors, Beatles, things of this nature). Once again, I don't stop there but thats generally what I prefer. I'm not even going to start with movies, because I can't say I particularly like one genre over another. Go to imdb.com and check out the top 250, those are all my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked up Masada at 5 in the morning to see the sunrise. Hiking on train tracks through a valley in the Peruvian Andes to get to Aguas Caliente. Walking the coastline from San Juan to Alicante during the fullest moon I've ever seen, and sitting down to just watch the stars reflect off the ocean. Hitchhiking across the USA. Climbing up my first route on Wall Street, in Moab. Crashing on a major interstate in Georgia on the back seat of a motorcycle and being able to walk off unscratched. Burning Man. I have a few more that I keep secret until we become great friends.
