Overview
About Me
I'm from Florida originally and I currently live in Baltimore, where I work as a scientist for an environmental consulting firm. I have bounced around a lot before ending up here: after graduating college in Florida I went to grad school in California, and lived abroad in England, the Republic of Georgia, Costa Rica, and was also a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana for two years, where I taught high school biology.
I love the outdoors, being on boats, and anything that has to do with the ocean. I'm kicking myself for not going scuba diving more when I lived in Florida, but I do when I can! It is my life-long goal to become fluent in Spanish, and I love learning other languages as well (the past year I've dabbled in French, Latin, German, and Danish). I'm also into leisurely hikes, bouldering, seeing new places, and my sweet black cat, Juno.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, but sometimes the best way to get to know a place is to meet the locals and to see things from their perspective. I began using Couchsurfing when I studied abroad in college, and was able to travel on a student budget while meeting amazing people.
I believe that people should be able to lean on each other for help, for friendship, for community. Strangers are a whole lot nicer than we give each other credit for. Each experience is completely different yet always positive, and that's exactly what I love about it.
