ABOUT ME

We are two college students in Florida who have been best friends for almost a decade!

We love meeting new people. We love music, traveling, and spontaneous adventures. We're clean, fun, respectful, open-minded, and we will help out in any way we can.

Shannon's input:
Hi! I'm Shannon. I am currently working at a funeral home. As you can imagine, there are stories to be told! I have been a pescatarian (vegetarian+seafood) for about 14 years now. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Central Florida. My Bachelors degree is in Sociology; and my Masters degree is in the Sociology of Death and Dying... which I'm continuing for my PhD. I study homicide, suicide, and genocide. My dream is to become a Sociology professor. I'm not creepy, I promise.. I just like helping people! I love body modification, motorcycles, dancing, 420, and stimulating conversation! I currently live by the University of Central Florida campus in Orlando, FL. xoxo

Katie's input:
Hey! I'm Katie. I currently live with my sister in Lutz, FL. I am working full time. I love meeting new people, especially those of different cultures. I think everyone has a story to tell about themselves and I truly believe in respecting everyone, because every person is fighting some sort of battle in their lives. I love chilling out on a big, comfortable couch and smoking hookah. I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have a few. Cider (Preferably Strongbow) is a favorite of mine. I'm interested in the more mysterious aspects of life...I love astrology, dream interpretation, palmistry. I'm pretty awesome at ping pong, air hockey, and pool. I love going to movies, the theater, and local music shows and events.
I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the rest of my life but my mom has been telling me since I was five that I'm going to be the first female President. I double majored in International Studies and Political Science, with a minor in Spanish. International politics fascinate me. Traveling is a passion of mine.

We have couch-surfed together in Boston, Philly, NYC, and St. Augustine.  Shannon has also couch-surfed in San Diego and has hosted multiple surfers from around the world.  <3 CS!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: (Documentaries are our favorites!) Get Him to the Greek, Waking Life, But I'm A Cheerleader, 28 Days Later, Knocked up, Pineapple Express, Old School, Zoolander, Wedding Crashers, Grease, Girl Interrupted, Home Alone, What the Bleep do We Know?, Who Killed the Electric Car?... we love movies!

Music: (Our life!) Truly Sunday, Soulfound, Ten 13 Concept, Rage Against the Machine, The Ying Yang Twins, Rise Against, Led Zepplin, Immortal Technique, Janis Joplin, Nelly, The Backstreet Boys (we are not ashamed to admit this!), Christina Aguilera. We seriously listen to everything from hip hop to alternative rock to ska to jazz.. we love it all!

Books: Shannon loves to read true crime and murder stories, and anything by Stephen King. Also Go Ask Alice, and the best book ever written: "Stiff" by Mary Roach. Katie likes Angels and Demons, Farenheit 451, 1984, and astrology books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky diving, bungee jumping, parasailing, scuba diving, hang gliding. Also participated in an anti-war protest at our nation's capitol in Washington, D.C., which brought together over 300,000 people.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can make kick-ass smoothies and Shannon can create some vegetarian delights! Katie has some palm-reading skills and can probably kick your ass at anything that requires hand-eye coordination. Shannon is a certified EMT, so she can pretty much save your life... and that just might come in handy! Katie is good at trivia, and Shannon can entertain you for hours by stating useless tidbits of information about death... She's pretty random, but it keeps things interesting.
