CURRENT MISSION
Break barriers and accomplish the unthinkable
ABOUT ME
Hi fellow couchsurfer, my name is Nick, and I'm a Canadian, eh. That does mean I like beer, hockey, and have toques in my wardrobe. It does not mean that I live in an igloo, ride polar bears to school, or apologize when I get run into.
I'm a pretty outgoing, friendly, positive chap who is very open to new experiences - you'll be hard pressed to find something I won't try! If I meet you, I promise we will have a great time!
PHILOSOPHY
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view--until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." - Harper Lee (Atticus Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird)
I seek first to understand others - I know there are two sides to every coin. I live by my faith.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to travel, meet new people, and share experiences. I am always up for a good story, and I'm always up for an adventure.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I think CS is the best way to travel, share culture, and meet like-minded people.
Interests
Writing - I enjoy writing poetry and novels; I'm very creative and this is one of my greatest passions.
Reading - I can never find enough good books to read!
Learning - I love to learn about topics as variant as physics and history, and love the process of discovering interesting things I didn't know.
Socializing - I'll do the whole party/club thing, and that is often a nice release, but I absolutely love a riveting conversation. I love to debate things and trade opinions.
Travelling - I like to experience the world.
Exercise - I enjoy casual sports and try to stay healthy.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I have a pretty versatile taste in music, but I gravitate towards songs that make me think or question things, or songs that tell stories. I listen to a lot of folk/indie music (Sufjan, Arcade Fire, and some Irish bands are personal favs), classical when studying, alt/rock, I'm very selective when it comes to country (if it's too twangy or too stereotypical gun-slinging whisky guzzling truck driving depressive hillbilly - I'm out!). I like some rap and classic rock too.
I don't spend that much time on movies, but when I do I tend towards more critically acclaimed films. Often when I'm studying or relaxing I'll throw on some classical.
Shows/Movies:
I don't spend that much time on movies, but when I do I tend towards more critically acclaimed films. I finished watching all of Breaking Bad recently; really enjoyed the ending. I like comedies, as well as movies that make you think - philisophical movies.
Books: Dickens is one of my favorite authors - I love how he humourously satires and criticizes society, and I love how he enrapts you in his characters. I also throughly enjoy Shakespeare. The fantasy/sci-fi genre is particularly exciting - it is so cool to be taken away to another world! I could write a book on what I like about books, but I must refrain...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to Brazil, UK, Ireland, France, across Canada and U.S., China, the Philippines and Japan (I hope to visit many more places once I am no longer on the student budget!). I have stories from each trip that I'd love to share in person. I try to do amazing things everyday, and to list any here would unfairly narrow things down!
Teach, Learn, Share
Great writer and great editor. If you want help with anything written, I'm your guy!
Wine/Food pairings - I worked at a winery for a summer, so I have some skills in that department!
I'd love to learn more languages. I am actually fascinated by language, language history, language effect on culture, and just learning languages themselves. One of my life goals is to learn as many languages as I can!
Culture/Politics: I want to learn about the cultural and political landscape of every region I visit. Give me your opinion on your country's lifestyle, politicians, holidays, work ethic, etc.
I am always looking to learn new things!!
