About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to find the balance between personal happiness and social/political/artistic committment
ABOUT ME
Staying too long in one place makes me go insane. I love being on the road, whether by hitch-hiking or by some other mode of transportation, love not knowing where I'll end up and what lies ahead. Sometimes it scares the **** out of me, but that's half the attraction, right? ;-)
Life is dope. Traveling is magical.
I'm silly, curious, a bit nerdy, pretty gullible and sometimes overly idealistic. I can be shy at times. I value honesty and solidarity pretty much above all else. I have strong opinions about many things and love having challenging discussions. I've been known to hurl the worst insults at people who try to wake me up too early (definitely not a morning person).
There's nothing like being silly and having fun with your friends. Even better if the shenanigans are followed by long, late-night conversations and midnight snacks.
I'm vegan with the intention of becoming raw sometime in the future. I'm tolerant and accomodating of other people's lifestyles and ethical choices, as long as they accept and respect mine in return.
PHILOSOPHY
"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth." - Henry David Thoreau
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted numerous travelers and backpackers with my flat-/housemates, and have always found it a very enriching experience. But it's only now that I'm going on a longer intercontinental trip on my own that I've finally opened a CS account, independently from the house projects etc. I've been a part of in the past. And I'm stoked to find out what adventures CS will bring!
Interests
I enjoy, among others, reading, cycling, photography, webdesign, rock climbing, cooking, studying languages and drinking lots of herbal tea.
I suffer from intermittent writer's block, but I'm still very passionate about writing and hope to write professionally in the not-too-distant future.
Everything about films fascinates me. It is, for me, the most magical and the most elusive medium of art. I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I want to be a filmmaker, even though it will be a total crapshoot.
I hope to learn more about organic farming and permaculture in the near future and to WWOOF my way around Central America.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a bit of a film snob, although woefully undereducated on most of the classics. Some of my favorite directors include Fatih Akin, Martin Scorsese, Pedro Almodovar, Wong Kar Wai, Michael Haneke, Lukas Moodysson, Lars von Trier and Stanley Kubrick.
My taste in music changes pretty quickly... I've been everything from a metalhead to a goth girl to a drum'n'bass lover to a progrock listener to a hiphop thug to a Disney sing-along fanatic. Right now I enjoy bands like Massive Attack, A Perfect Circle, Thievery Corporation, Morcheeba, Tool, a bit of silly pop and some political hip hop.
I don't read nearly as much as I would like, but some favorites include Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo and the works of Margaret Atwood and Wally Lamb.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's so cliché, but experiencing true love and friendship is probably still the most amazing thing to me.
