About Me

I am very much a nature enthusiast and love the outdoors. I love observing animals in their natural habitats, and the goofy, kid-at-heart educator in me comes to life when I’m around littles. I am also a bit quirky, some might say…🤓

In my spare time, I usually like to spend it with family and friends. I enjoy dancing, listening to music (especially live music), theatre, photography, and reading and writing. I like going on leisurely bicycle rides as well as day-long hikes and nature walks.

I love any natural outdoor area with water but am at most in my element when wandering amongst the trees in the thickest of forests. Camping is probably my all-time favorite activity. 🏕️ ❤️

I’ve dabbled with indoor rock climbing and bouldering but I think I might have a slight fear of heights, as I noticed that I tend to stay on the ground and observe more than climb. 🙃

I also tried surfing and stand-up paddle boarding at one point but I’m too wobbly on my feet and prefer to be sitting while on the water, preferably in either a canoe or a sturdy kayak. I think not being able to swim doesn’t help, either. 😅

I enjoy volunteering in my community and exploring my surroundings whenever I get the chance. I like to get creative and be adventurous at times, but I also enjoy some relaxing, quiet moments and appreciate my alone time. 🧩 📚

Although I really like baking, I am not much of a cook and don’t really care for it. But I do enjoy eating good vegetarian food and cooking meals with others on special occasions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because I would love to be able to travel more often and meet like-minded people who are either also traveling, are locals or have been living in the country that I’d like to visit and would like to share their experiences with me.

I also joined because I would like to see more parts of the world before my eyesight is completely gone (I have a genetic eye disorder that is progressive and causes blindness), and thought Couchsurfing could open up more possibilities for me to do so while I still have my vision and can travel independently. Plus, I think Couchsurfing is a wonderful idea for those wanting to experience the world, meet new people and learn about new cultures.

I am fairly new to the Couchsurfing community and I’ve yet to have the opportunity to host, so I’m excited to see what this may bring. I’m always up for an adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to listen to various kinds of music and enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction books when I have spare time. I also enjoy watching a good movie every now and then, mostly independent films. I’m not so big on watching television but have been known to get sucked into watching a good series every once in a while.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I‘ve had so many memorable experiences, where do I start?! 😊

One experience was when I took my children outside of the country for the first time in 2018. It was such a joy seeing their amazement and fascination, an experience I’ll never forget!

Another time was the first time I went on a 3-day overnight backpacking trip in 2019. It was in a very remote area in Oregon and I was surrounded by gorgeous old-growth forests that were never logged nor clear-cut. The area was as wild as nature intended it to be!

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope to get the opportunity to share my world experiences with others as well as gain new friendships and make wonderful, life-long connections.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be more than happy to share my love of nature, my enthusiasm of traveling and going on adventures, and to share of my own culture.
