ABOUT ME

I'm a fine arts and design student studying at the University of Alberta, born and raised in Edmonton. I have a pharmacist/photographer brother (http://www.hugoleung.com/blog/) and my parents both work for the University. I think computers can be damaging and value face-to-face human contact over instant messaging chatting.

My passions in life have gone something like this: perpetual cartoon tv watcher; hardcore computer game fanatic; obsessed Gundam scale model builder; committed guitarist and now a motivated art student.

Throughout my life I have... cooked and developed my inner "foodie"; liked listening to people's troubles; thought people were inherently good

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've always been up for breaking habits living in places where I'm not used to, but haven't gotten opportunities. However, that's going to change! I found out about CS through my brother and there's so much potential with it! I hope I can start getting my feet wet in both traveling and CS, ASAP!

Interests

I love cooking. I love drawing. I love making things with my hands. Or feet, if called upon. I'm always trying to remember jokes, but I just can't remember or deliver them properly. I like finding optical illusions.

I love the little mannerisms or rituals that people do everyday: slight tilt of the head while sitting; tearing labels off their bottles; speech patterns; their shoe choice etc. The little things are definitely worth searching for.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an active music listener and always have tunes playing. I like music because it can really help create moods, be it ambience (Jon Hopkins, My Bloody Valentine, Brian Eno, Godspeed You! Black Emperor), joy (Sigur Ros, Jonsi), relaxation (Iron & Wine, Caribou) or for partying (Andrew W.K., Crystal Castles, Caribou). Music is so powerful and plays a huge element on my life!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I came back to Edmonton from Hong Kong the touch down temperature was about -30 degrees Celsius. When I departed Hong Kong it was +35 degrees! Feeling a 65 degrees difference in 16 hours isn't humane!
