About Me

Hi! I'm Kyle, a curious traveler and adventurer currently based in Bogotá, Colombia, originally from the States. I love exploring new cultures, meeting interesting people, and sharing stories over a cup of coffee or a local meal.

I worked as a teacher for seven years, which deepened my appreciation for learning and connecting with others. These days, I work as a freelance curriculum writer and instructional designer, which gives me the flexibility to travel and embrace new experiences.

In my free time, you'll find me running, hiking, biking, or catching a baseball game. I'm always up for exploring nature or chatting about politics, education, or good books.

I’m laid-back, respectful, and grateful for every chance to connect with fellow travelers and hosts. Whether we’re swapping stories or exploring your city, I’d love to learn more about your corner of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe in the strength of community and the connections we can build through shared experiences. For me, traveling isn’t just about visiting new places—it’s about meeting people, exchanging stories, and creating meaningful relationships.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m a big fan of music that tells a story—Bob Dylan, Mason Jennings, the Avett Brothers, Father John Misty, and Brother Ali are some of my favorites. Folk music and hip-hop with meaningful lyrics tend to be my jam.

When it comes to movies, I love independent films, especially from A24. I’m really looking forward to Complete Unknown to be released in to Bogotá.

I usually gravitate toward non-fiction when I read. Some recent favorites include The Panama Papers and The 4-Hour Workweek. I also enjoy spiritual authors like Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, and Richard Rohr.

For fiction, I’ve enjoyed Jack Kerouac’s works and am slowly making my way through One Hundred Years of Solitude.
