About Me

I'm a relaxed, open minded person with an ever present sense of humor. Music is my love and the thing that I dedicate most of my time to (sometimes even when I should be doing other things). I'm a humanist with a drive to experience every culture I can. I am an avid U.S. traveler and have been coast to coast and back again thanks to a career in music.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I created this profile so that I could learn more about the Couchsurfing community! Couchsurfing seems like a great way to travel and meet new people. That is huge to me because, in my opinion, travel loses some magic if you don't get to meet new people. Nothing makes for a great life like a diverse human experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music is too hard to pick. Lately I've been listening to a lot of indie bands sporting large ensemble instrumentation or brass sections. Bands like The Family Crest, Typhoon, Mother Falcon, Beirut, and a few others. But I listen to everything from Classical (Stravinsky is my favorite), to Bluegrass (Trampled by Turtles), to Rock (Tool), to Rap (Aesop Rock).
Favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut Jr., T.S. Eliot, Malcolm Gladwell, and David Sedaris.
Favorite movies are Schindler's List, The Shawshank Redemption, all of the Ken Burns documentaries, and pretty much any stand up comedy special but I love Louis C.K.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got to visit Montana with a high school band trip. The landscape was beautiful, the people were welcoming, and the whole experience in general made me fall in love with the west. I also took a trip with my university's jazz band to Reno, Nevada USA and we spent a day out at Lake Tahoe. That was a beautiful experience because it's the closest that I've ever felt to nature.

Teach, Learn, Share

I haven't had nearly as much life experience as I'd like but I'm always ready to meet new people and learn different ways of life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Steadfast respect, hopefully some laughs, and any experience I may have.
