Overview
About Me
I am a person with immense curiosity about any and all topics. I currently work part-time as a social science researcher at my local university in Boise, Idaho, which allows me to pursue my other personal aspirations. I'm working on writing a novel, which has somewhat of a science fiction / social change vibe to it. Reading, writing, and sharing conversations with others about my thoughts and things I'm learning is a constant in my life, and I intentionally work toward giving space for others to share their own thoughts. I also love cooking, going for walks, and various outdoor sports/activities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to travel in a way that helps me meet locals in the area and feel a sense of connection to a place. I am looking for more connecting and cheaper ways to visit new places. Travel inherently makes you feel like an outsider, and Couchsurfing sounds like a great way to quickly meet people in a new place and engage with a real community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One thing I look back on with pride is spending a summer performing trail maintenance in the remote forests of Idaho. We would hike out and spend 9 days on the trail at a time, working 10-12 hours per day, without internet or hot water. Sometimes our day of trail work started with a 3 mile hike uphill where the previous day's work ended. We carried some sort of tool in one hand (axe, Pulaski, chainsaw, etc) and a 5 gallon water jug (40 pounds) in the other everywhere we hiked to for work. It was an amazing, challenging, rewarding 3 months that I look back on, 6 years later, with disbelief.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I love cooking and exploring new ways of using and preserving foods. I can teach how to pickle various vegetables, make kombucha, spaghetti sauce from scratch, and many other recipes. I can also teach about golf, pickleball, and a bit about biking.
Learn: I am always interested to hear about historical events or philosophical concepts. Reading is a constant source of inspiration and thought and I love hearing about what others are reading.
Share: I tend to care for people through acts of kindness and service. I'm always willing to help with a project, clean/tidy an area, or help with an errand.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would consider myself an above-average homo cook; very tidy and willing to help clean;
I often have ideas and thoughts that stem from books/podcasts/conversations that others may find interesting. I love to talk and work out my thoughts through conversation.
