I'm currently finishing my bachelor's degree in Business Finance and am spending my year abroad in England. A large part in coming to England was because of its vicinity to mainland Europe. Before coming here, I promised myself that I would take advantage of Ryanair's cheap flights and take intermittent trips to places I'd always wanted to see. Since arriving in September, I've visited Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, Poland and Portugal. Although I've met many travelers from around the world, I have not been so lucky in meeting locals. This is what I'm hoping couchsurfing will change for me.

One way to see a new city is no doubt by staying in hostels, but without interacting with locals, you are limiting yourself in your experience of finding new cultures. The only way to really understand someone else is by immersing yourself in the lifestyle that they experience each and every day.
