About Me

ABOUT ME

I try to travel as much as possible. Love to meet people from different cultures and talk sports, history, culture and politics. Been to 77 countries and have to say that Montenegro was by far the most beautiful country I have seen so far.

I love history, sports, movies, and current events. Each country I visit I try to read as much news about the country as I can, watch their movies, read books from the given country, and learn about their sports teams.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have gone to multiple places and been shown around by locals, would love to repay the favor.

Sometimes traveling and meeting people from the country you are traveling to can be frustrating. Seems if you want to meet Japanese people you will meet them at a hostel in Austria, and likewise if you want to meet Austrians you'll meet them at a hostel in Japan. It's nice to actually meet people from the country that I am traveling to

Interests

sports, museums, and nature

I've become really interested in biking. I've been biking as much as I can these days and hope to start biking more when I travel

Music, Movies, and Books

books: love anything by Albert Camus, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Leo Tolstoy. Usually I read non-fiction books in bunches (currently reading about Ecuador, going there next)

music: anything from mozart to arcade fire to abba

TV: BBC news, Frontline, Archer, the Mindy Project, Mexican Telonovelas

Movies: usually watch foreign movies since it's easier to read subtitles than to keep turning up and down the volume. (favorites: A Very Long Engagement, Peppermint Candy, The Battle of Algeirs, Tango, The Cranes are Flying)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine for 27 months. Helped to organize programs and training about HIV/AIDS awareness,

Teach, Learn, Share

I received a bachelors and Masters degree in History. The facts and dates are easy to find on Wikipedia, but just as important is how people perceive history and what information they are and aren't made aware of.

sports knowledge and discussions about current events
