About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a penguin who's registered on CS so that I can visit Antartica; it's been a tough search.

ABOUT ME

I love to read and write, as long as it's fiction.
I play far too many internet video games.
I took up fencing because it's the closest you can get to real swordfighting these days. -EDIT- Heck no, SCA broadsword fighting is!
I'm too lazy for my own good.
I never cared for alcohol until I came to Europe.
I burst out into song on random occasions.
I have a keen fashion sense, I just choose to ignore it.
I love to play football (not American) even though the Europeans always kick my ass.
I climb trees where provided.
My diet consists mainly of store-brand cereal, pasta, and Cervelas sausages, plus the occasional sandwich.
I make damn good sandwichs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Very enjoyable. I stayed with a group of girls in Lugano who were absolutely charming. It's a great system.

Interests

Exploration -
Not just of places, but of life. There are too many possibilities before us in this life. To limit ourselves to a single, direct life path and never take an untraveled fork in the road through the woods would be a tragic waste. Even simply backtracking down the same path we've already walked gives us a new perspective on the scenery.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies that hit something deep inside of me:
Harold and Maude
Ordinary People
Unbreakable
Fight Club
Good Will Hunting
The Silence of the Lambs

Books, authors, series that helped form me into the person I am today:
Brian Jacques' Martin the Warrior (and the Redwall series in general)
Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising sequence
Ursela K. LeGuin's Earthsea saga
C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia
J.R.R. Tolkien
The Mists of Avalon

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I get that thought when I see boxes like this one that "Yeah, all the stuff I've seen, I can blow this one away!" But then I start thinking about it, and realize that really, all the stuff I can think about is very small. But in the end, those small nothings are really the most amazing things, because they are what define our lives.

I've seen Love in a woman's eye, and felt it in my heart.
I've jumped off an 80 foot tree.
I've seen blind fury turn a person into an animal.
I've sat around a table with five other people, not understood a word they said all night, and still had a great time.
I've felt my heart break into pieces.
I've received the kindness of a stranger, and been a kind stranger myself in turn.
I've felt my body turn cold from hatred.
I've realized how a true friend can be more important to me than I am.
I've exceeded my one amazing thing seen or done limit.
