About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn about new cultures and travel!

ABOUT ME

I have spent a month in Athens, Greece and a month in Granada, Spain traveling around amazing places and meeting new people. My next stop is England for a month! I will be splitting my time between Oxford and London, and I will also be in Paris for three nights. Having come from the United States, I haven't travelled outside of North America until now. It has been an amazing adventure so far and I have really discovered my love for travel and learning/understanding new cultures. I am going to TCU starting spring 2014 to start my studies, but I will definitely be traveling during the summer and, of course, my study abroad semester (still haven't quite decided my destination).

Interests

In my free time I read, run, surf, go out with friends, and try new foods! I am also a TV fanatic and my absolute favorite show is Friends. I will be attending TCU next spring after completing my gap year, hopefully filled with more travel!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled to Cuba and was amazed by how beautiful it was. Everything was so colorful, yet all the buildings were falling apart. The Cuban culture was amazing with live music everywhere. We went to poetry readings, salsa classes, and visited the university. The people love their culture and are dedicated to improving their conditions. It's amazing to see.

Teach, Learn, Share

Coming to Europe, I expected just a bunch of "tourist attractions" you see in school. Upon arrival, I immediately realized it is so much more than that. I am at the age where I can truly appreciate what I am seeing and having the opportunity to do. I have learned so much about the world and different cultures from just random people walking down the street. The Spaniards are so incredibly kind and the Greeks will do anything to help you, even if they can't understand you. I encourage anyone contemplating doing something out of their comfort zone when it comes to travel, to absolutely do it. In Athens, I was living with my mom and sister but I went to Granada by myself. I spent a month traveling alone meeting amazing people from all around the world. I can honestly say I have friends throughout Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa that I have met while on my journey. I can't wait to see what my future travel plans hold for me. If there is one thing I have learned, it's to not plan, at least too far in advanced. I have met people who had simply been traveling around with fellow nomads they had just met and just going wherever the wind takes them. For my next trip, I plan to fly into Rome, and take it from there. Planes, buses, trains, whatever feels right that day.
