ABOUT ME

Hola! I'm Kylie D. and am on a journey to rediscover who I am and what the universe has in mind for me. I'm a year and a half out of a 13 year abusive marriage and have healed so much on every level - physically, emotionally, spiritually during this time. It's been the worst year of my life, but it's also been the best year of my life. It really has been so fan-freaking-tastic! I'm very grateful for my experiences. I've really broken out of my shell and while I'm still kinda scared of everything, I've really discovered that life is lived by stepping outside of your comfort zone.

I'm an eclectic type of person, enjoying bits from various different realms. I span several categories and don't like to box myself or others into stereotypes. I really don't fit well into one definition. I'm the wholesome quiet type, whose faith is important to me, but I'm very liberal and definitely open to all types of people. I consistently border on the line between introvert and extrovert. I love learning about people, which led me to become a therapist I guess. While I can be light-hearted and enjoy the simpler childish things (one of my top 3 fav movies is a kids movie), I also love dark humor and am often kinda snarky. I love checking out others' body art and currently have 11 tattoos myself with more on the way.

***Update - I probably should just delete my old entry because so much has changed, but I love the place I was at at the time and the journey I was on when I started with couch surfing at the time and I want to leave it up and just add to it because it is still a part of me. Since that original posting I have remarried to the most wonderful man ever, and I might be able to talk him into a journey a time or two, so in case he's ever with me, his name is Eric and is currently a fulltime student for Mechanical Engineering, enjoys working on cars, reading sci fi, yoga, gaming, and going with the flow. It amuses me that I describe myself as a Type A hippie because I'm all about love and peace and connecting with people but I love my schedules, lists, and plans whereas he is an engineer and thus logically minded but lives very spontaneously and hates making plans. After traveling the country and living at a commune, I am back to work as a therapist at a college counseling center. But I am still very focused on self healing and my journey in life and discovering the beauty and joy in life and through the people I come across.

***Update - Lots! A good amount at least, traveling from VA to Quebec, over to WA state, through Canada to Alaska to Mexico to FL Keys, back to VA and got to meet some of the most amazing people through couch surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read. My favorite books are World According to Garp (John Irving is my favorite author), Bell Jar, Pillars of the Earth, Geek Love, The Book Thief, but enjoy many others.

Also really enjoy movies. I love love dark comedies. Wes Anderson and Coen Bros movies are definite favs. Heathers, Big Lebowski, American Psycho, Death to Smoochy, Scott Pilgrim vs the World.

Music, I enjoy across the board for the most part. I most enjoy alternative & love ska punk the most. I am not the biggest fan of country.
