Overview
About Me
Hi! I am Ky. I'm enjoying that sliver of existence between graduating school and starting my job.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've driven across the country a few times, but always slept in my car or in hotels. This time I thought what the heck? Why not try couchsurfing and meet some cool people along the way.
Interests
Though I am an engineer I am a bit of a generalist! I worked in the film industry before going to school. A lot of my work even now revolves around photography. I also did some imaging work at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History which led to a love affair with insects. I love jazz and play a bit of music myself, mostly piano. I love nature and hiking, and would really like to do some more camping. And I am a bit of a computer science nerd!

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a big fan of jazz. -- especially the piano stuff! Two of my favorites are Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk.
I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd. I recently started watching a lot of Miyazaki movies and really love them!
One of my favorite books is Hesse's Siddhartha... though I've been on a non-fiction grind lately!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I moved to Los Angeles after high school to work as an editor in a film studio. I got a lot of slack for not going straight to college, but I ended up having a pretty successful stint out there and then finding a passion in the mix of art and science. Now I have my degree in engineering and run a small software company. I love nontraditional ways of doing things!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hmmm I would absolutely love to share some knowledge, skills, and passions.. Here are a few ideas:
I travel with a mini guitar and/or piano -- I can teach you a few things about music, or we could just jam.
I know the ins and outs of photography and video -- I would love to give a mini lesson on either subject.
And I'm always down to share a beer.
