ABOUT ME

Greetings!

This is a pretty difficult section to fill out... I’m from Sydney but have also lived in China, Norway and Singapore during the last 10 years. I’ve travelled to 90+ countries but there’s still so much more to explore. I’ve got a double bachelors degrees and a masters degrees. None of which I’m using.

I started my own sailing business a few years ago but sold it during the pandemic. Currently based in Toronto working at a travel company

PHILOSOPHY

In our society, things such as family life, personal relationships, money and careers are important. But so is growth, independence, personal exploration and happiness. Travelling provides us with freedom, the ability to enjoy new adventures and experience other cultures.

In life, you can buy things or you can buy experiences. I have found that experiences make me much happier. For the price of a car, you can actually go see the world.

The more you travel, the less scary travel becomes, and the less scary other cultures become. That’s definitely a good thing.

I need to move around, to shuffle my surrounding, to wake up in cities that I dont know my way around and have conversations in languages I cannot entirely comprehend. There is always a tremendous longing in my hears to be lost, to be someplace else, to be far far away from all this.

I don't want to die and I don't want anyone I know to die. But I'm going to die and everyone I know is going to die. That's what makes life absurd.

The most dangerous risk of all is that of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later - don't take moments for granted on the assumption that there will be a thousand more

When I look back at my favourite travel memories... it’s not the attractions or the perfectly executed plans. It’s the adventures, the unexpected moments, the journeys with no real purpose, no beginning and no end, just a sense of discovery and thrill

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfed quite a lot all over the place, and have hosted people in Sydney (when I've actually been there) and in Bergen during my Masters studies.

CS is a reference-based system so please leave a reference, be it good/bad/indifferent

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Overwhelmingly positive. A few weird experiences but no bad ones.

I don't have the attention span for books. It took me 18 months to finish Catcher in the Rye, which is all of 180 pages.. I haven't read or seen any of the Lord of the Rings. Don't hate!
