2026.1 - 2026.3 Traveling in Asia 👟
***
🐘大家好, Hello everyone, this is Labu from China 🥢
After visiting Peru a few years ago, I became convinced that I was a descendant of the Andean people in a past life ⛰️🦙 I started learning Spanish during my senior year of college, and after graduation, I moved to Mexico City thanks to a great opportunity, allowing me to better explore Latin American culture and find my connection to this land.
I consider myself as a global citizen, and I want to live like a nomad, deeply understanding as many cultures as possible within my limited lifespan, broadening my perspective and enriching my life. I started solo traveling since I was 18 and it has greatly changed me: the people I've met and the things I've seen along the way have helped me grow, allowing me to discover a second and third self beyond my primary identity 🌍
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The connections between people are magical✨
Maybe someday I’ll forget the sunsets over the Sahara, but I’ll never forget the conversations I shared with strangers beneath its starry skies. I want to see the truest sides of the places I visit, hear the stories of the people there, and create more heartfelt connections along the way.
During my travels, I’ve been met with so much kindness and generosity. I hope to pass that forward. Right now, I can’t host travelers from around the world, but one day, when the time comes, I know I will 🥺

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: My favorite musician is Alexandro Querevalú from Peru. I also enjoy jazz, bedroom pop... 🎺🫧
Movies: My favorite directors are Makhmalbaf 🇮🇷, Abbas Kiarostami 🇮🇷, Tarkovsky 🇷🇺, and Éric Rohmer 🇫🇷 I love all of their works.
Books: Books are an essential part of my life and one of the main reasons I travel. I went to Lima to explore the Peru depicted in Llosa’s works, “At what precise moment had Peru fucked itself up?” I traveled to Istanbul to understand what Hüzün that Pamuk describes truly means through the details of the city. And I would say my next literary pilgrimage will be to Russia, to St. Petersburg and Moscow. 📖🌛
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 18 I volunteered to teach in a remote rural village on a small island of China, teaching children English and art (my English was terrible at that time and I couldn't draw at all :))
I hitchhiked through Western Sahara, and everyone I met along the way tried their best to help me. I still can't figure out where all that kindness came from, or how I should pass it on until now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m not an expert, but I’ve always been interested in history, art history, photography, and literature. Let’s share, learn, and grow together. After all, isn’t the exchange and connection of cultures the best part of traveling?
