About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience all the richness life has to offer - and, hopefully, send this richness back into the universe!
ABOUT ME
I strive to be honest and genuine with everyone in my life. My sense of humor is an integral part of my personality, and I try to spread this humor around. I'm intelligent, and I work hard, but try to take life too seriously. I find that I click best (and most deeply) with people who are also not big fans of pointless, small talk, but want to get to the heart of any given subject - even the small ones! Because I want to maintain my groundedness in my combined sense of openness, honesty, and humor, I try to surround myself with others who also value these characteristics.
PHILOSOPHY
One of the best quotes I have ever run across (that I actually found in an academic article required for a past class): "Care of the soul is not solving the puzzle of life; quite the opposite. It is an appreciation of the paradoxical mysteries that blend light and darkness into the grandeur of what human life and culture can be." I work every day to live by this philosophy. And this complex little peek into my view of life is balanced out by one of my very eccentric mother's favorite sayings: "F#*k 'em if they can't take a joke." I think the combination of these perspectives is a recipe for a healthy, happy existence.
Interests
A whole slew of things fulfill me. I'm currently working on my PhD in communication studies with an emphasis in social justice - I love learning, teaching, reading, writing, the whole nine yards. My relationships are also key to my happiness as they also allow me to learn so much about this life and what I want out of it. When I have downtime, I enjoy reading, music (live and recorded), and watching movies; the brand of book, band, or movie is all over the place and depends on my mood.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: all time favorites would be Radiohead, Fiona Apple, and Sigur Ros - the music of the daily mood can be from any genre and any time period depending on my mood. Music is an absolutely necessary part of my life and makes all in the universe well and good.
Movies: again, this depends on my mood, but I adore anything from Will Farrell to Micheal Moore to Spike Jonze. Movies, much like reading and listening to music, are necessary for my well-being.
Books: The Catcher in the Rye, anything by Tom Robbins, A Thousand Splendid Suns, David Sedaris - and I get real kick out of a lot of academic/nonfiction stuff that's just all over the place
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in Colorado, I am terribly fortunate to live a short drive from some of the most beautiful spots in the world. There have been so many moments in the eight years that I have lived in this extraordinary place during which I have been sitting on the side of a mountain by myself or with someone I love and have been totally floored by the amount of connection I feel to the earth, humanity, the universe. Always leaves me breathless and utterly grateful for being able to live the life I've been given.
